The first thing some drivers may wonder to themselves is, “Where is the Kia brand from?” Well, you may be surprised to find out that the company was established and opened its first integrated automotive assembly plant in Seoul, South Korea in 1973. The company produced vehicles for the Korean market, and neighboring countries caught on quickly. Since, Kia has expanded to 14 manufacturing facilities located in eight countries around the world.
After having a very successful opening and production in South Korea and the surrounding Asian market, drivers in the West started to see Kia models hit the States by the 1990s. Several manufacturing plants in the North American market were opened by 1994. Additional Kia plants and research design centers have since opened in the United States, Germany, Japan, Eastern Europe, India, Mexico, China, and Vietnam, while the Kia headquarters remain in Seoul, South Korea.
When the Kia brand became available to western drivers, many customers were quickly impressed by Kia’s sleek design, dependable performance, advanced tech features, reliable safety features, and much more. No matter your driving needs, you’ll find compact sedans, roomy SUVs and crossovers, along with plenty of minivan, hatchback, and hybrid options in the Kia lineup.
